The current state of affairs of CSOs and think tanks in Africa is not different from the current leadership of African states and African political parties. While the leaders of the African CSOs and think tank harshly criticise African leaders for holding power for too long and in a very brutal manner, most of the leaders of the CSOs and think tanks in Africa are culprits of the same crime. Some of these leaders of CSOs and think tanks have been holding their offices for more than two decades and their internal management system are brutal and brutalising for new staff members. A critical area of challenge is the need for an in-built institutional mechanism for succession of leadership within these CSOs and think tanks.
